Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for four districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 7.10 pm on Tuesday.
Moderate rain, thunderstorm and lightning with surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at a few places in Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Kendrapada, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar) and Sundargarh districts in the next 3 hours.
In its midday bulletin, the weather agency had warned of heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda on Tuesday. Heavy rain may also occur at one or two places in Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Balangir and Nuapada. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Bargarh.
While orange warning continues for next two days, Odisha may experience heavy rain till July 5.
It further stated that the low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal & adjoining north Odisha has moved to Jharkhand and neighbourhood. It is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards across Jharkhand during the next 24 hours.
