Yes, that’s the new name for Mount Abu, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Rajasthan.
Along with the picturesque hill station, near the Gujarat border, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also announced the renaming of two other popular towns on Friday.
Kaman will become Kamvan and Jahazpur will be known as Yagyapur.
The changes effected by the BJP-led state government are aimed at respecting local sentiments and reviving the historical identity of the cities and towns.
The chief minister also unveiled a series of welfare measures for state legislators and journalists.
Legislators will receive annual cost-of-living adjustments similar to government employees, along with a mobile phone and tablet each. A dedicated housing scheme for legislators is also being planned under the Vidhayak Awas Yojana.
Pensions for senior journalists will be increased to Rs 18,000 for those above 60, with widows receiving Rs 9,000. A housing scheme for journalists will be launched through the Awasan Mandal.
