Bhubaneswar: State tourism and culture department on Thursday organised a rally from Kalinga Stadium to Utkal Mandap here, on the occasion of World Tourism Day.
Flagging off the rally, tourism and culture minister Ashok Chandra Panda said, “A number of steps have been taken by the Odisha government to promote tourism in the state. An amount of Rs 5 crore has been allocated towards preservation of the ancient monuments and revival of different temples in the state. Besides, the government has also decided to organise light and sound show at Samaleswari Temple with an investment of Rs 9 crore.”
Speaking on the occasion, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena informed that the civic body has plans to conduct art rail covering Bindu Sagar Lake to Kedar Gouri Temple with a view to raise public awareness about the rich culture, tradition, heritage and history of the state.
Artistes from different parts of the state participated in the rally and showcased the folk art and dance of Puri and other parts of the state through their colourful performances.
