Ramesh Munda Of Jindal Sports Hostel Felicitated For Winning Gold In Asian Wushu Meet
Bhubaneswar: Ramesh Munda, a tribal boy from a financially challenged family in Joda’s Sialijoda village in Keonjhar district, bagged gold medal in the 11th Junior Asian Wushu Championship at Macao, China.
A student of Jindal Sports Hostel in Barbil, Ramesh was felicitated on Wednesday by Odisha’s Sports Director Siddhartha Das, in the presence of DSYS Joint Secretaries Sailendra Jena, Bijayananda Nayak, Ranjit Parida and Kailash Chandra Das besides the athlete’s coaches and officials of the state wushu association.
Ramesh was spotted by the JSP Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) which runs the sports hostel.
Ramesh, who took to wushu at the age of 7, was provided with focused training and support by Jindal Sports Hostel.
This was his maiden international medal, having previously won medals in state and national-level tournaments.
“I’m proud of Ramesh Munda for his outstanding achievement. He is an inspiration to all young athletes of the Jindal Sports Hostel, and I’m confident that he will continue to represent India in international tournaments and bring more laurels to the country,” said JSP Chairperson Shallu Jindal.
