Mumbai: The much-awaited Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Love & War’ is reportedly “much behind its shooting schedule” and might hit theatres by June next year.
As per a Bollywood Hungama report, the film will “miss its Eid 2026 deadline” to apparently avoid a clash with the Yash-starrer ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups’, which is slated to hit theatres in March 2026.
“It’s a blessing in disguise, as it made no sense for two Pan-Indian films to clash on the same date. Love And War is running much behind its shooting schedule, and will now release in the second half of 2026. Around 75 days of shoot still remains, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has requested Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal to allot bulk dates till Summer 2026 to wrap up the film,” a source was quoted as saying by Bollywood Hungama.
“The film is running approximately 40 days behind schedule, and the earliest it can now be released is in the month of June 2026. Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will take a call on the film’s release soon and officially announce the delay in its release,” the source added.
Initially, ‘Love and War’ was slated to release on Christmas this year, but later reports claimed that the release date has been pushed further to March 20, 2026.
However, there has been no confirmation about the new release date from the filmmakers.
The Yash-starrer, on the other hand, was also originally slated for a December release. However, several reports stated that the release has been pushed to March due to delay in production.
Despite reports of delay, the film’s team on Thursday reaffirmed the release date in a social media post.
“140 days to go… His Untamed Presence is Your Existential Crisis. Toxic The Movie releases worldwide on 19-03-2026,” read the post from KVN Productions.
‘Toxic’ also features Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Akshay Oberoi, and Sudev Nair in pivotal roles.
The film, jointly produced by KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, is being shot in Kannada and English. It will also be dubbed in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil.
