Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘Ramayana’ is already making headlines for its grand scale and ambitious vision.
Adding another milestone to its journey, the project has reportedly become the first Bollywood film to bring together a crew of more than 10,000 members, setting a new benchmark for the Indian film industry.
The film has brought together experts from multiple departments, including visual effects, production design, action and costume creation, to build the film’s larger-than-life world.
The project reportedly features collaboration with leading international technicians and specialists, highlighting the makers’ ambition to create a cinematic experience on par with global standards.
Equipped with advanced filmmaking technology, sprawling sets, detailed storytelling and extensive pre-production planning, the film is being designed as a major event spectacle.
While Indian cinema has previously witnessed several grand-scale productions, the sheer magnitude of this project is said to be unlike anything attempted before.
Planned as a two-part release, Ramayana is set to arrive in theatres with its first instalment during Diwali, followed by the second part in 2027.
‘Ramayana: Part 1’ features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
During a special screening in New York, held after the unveiling of the film’s first glimpse in Los Angeles, Ranbir reflected on the responsibility of portraying such an iconic character. “As an actor, my Dharma is to do my job in the best way possible with honesty and truthfulness. There’s a beautiful saying in our scriptures which translates to ‘Dharma protects those who uphold it.’ As an artist, it is my job to honestly approach my work with the responsibility of hundreds and billions of Indians and other cultures who are going to see this film.”
