Ranji Trophy: Odisha Struggle After Dismissing Rajasthan For 135

Bhubaneswar: Odisha struggled in their first innings after skittling out Rajasthan for 135 on the first day of the four-day Ranji Trophy match at Vikash Cricket Ground here on Friday.

Put in to bat first after winning the toss, Rajasthan lost the wickets of two openers A.V. Gautam and Chetan Bist got out without opening their account. While M.K. Lomror scored a masterly 85 from 105 balls before falling to Basant Mohanty, seven batsmen failed to reach the double figure except Ashok Menaria (10) and R. D. Chahar (18).

For Odisha, Basant Mohanty was the most successful bowler claiming six wickets while Rajesh Mohanty and Suryakant Pradhan bagged three and one wicket respectively.
After bundling out the visitors for 135 in 37 overs, Odisha began their first innings on a disappointing note with the two openers Shantanu Mishra (7) and Ranjit Singh (2) falling in quick succession. Subhranshu Senapati, who had scored magnificent unbeaten century against Jharkhand, went without scoring. Besides, Captain Biplab Samantray also could not stay for long as he was dismissed by A.V. Chaudhary for 8.

However, Debasis Samantray (30 not out) and Abhishek Raut (20 not out) managed to hold on till the close of play with the score at 78 for 4.

For Rajasthan, A.V. Chaudhary and T.M. Haq claimed two wickets each.
