Mumbai: After steering clear of roadblocks, Ranveer Singh-starrer ‘Dhurandhar’ is all set for a big opening on December 5 as advance bookings for the film has reportedly crossed Rs 1 crore.
Pre-sales for the first weekend of the film across India began on Monday, with around 2,000 shows initially.
Following the amazing response, more shows have apparently been added.
The pace slowed down by Tuesday afternoon, with Rs 35 lakh being added to the day 1 collection.
After Delhi High Court disposed of the petition filed by late Major Mohit Sharma’s parents, seeking a stay on the film, the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) on Tuesday gave clearance to the film, calling it a work of fiction.
Following CBFC’s green signal, late Major Mohit Sharma’s brother Madhur stated that while he respects the board’s decision, the filmmakers could have shown the film to his parents to clear their misconceptions.
“I am sure they’ve followed the process and they were very quick to take a decision, which is good. We don’t know what data CBFC has relied on, but I am sure they have done their due diligence. They have said that it is a work of fiction so I hope that a disclaimer will be duly added,” Madhur was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
“I just feel that a screening could have been organised for the parents so that any misconceptions floating on social media could have been clarified. People who have lived their entire life with him are in a better position to tell if anything in the film replicates his life, rather than someone outside the ecosystem,” he added.
Talking about the family’s next step, the Major’s brother said, “I am yet to speak to the lawyers… whether we should file a rejoinder… let’s see.”
For the unversed, soon after the trailer of ‘Dhurandhar’ was released, social media started drawing comparisons between Major Mohit’s life and Ranveer’s character in the film. The late Major’s parents then filed a petition in court.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ features Ranveer as an Indian spy infiltrating the gangs of Pakistan’s Lyari. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Sara Arjun in key roles.
