Bengaluru: A special court for people’s representatives (MP/MLAs) on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of rape accused and suspended Janata Dal-Secular leader Prajwal Revanna.
The 33-year-old Prajwal, grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and son of MLA HD Revanna, is being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) which was set up by the Karnataka government to investigate multiple allegations of sexual assault against him.
Explicit videos purportedly showing him surfaced during the Lok Sabha elections. The former MP, who failed to retain his Hassan set this time, was arrested on May 31 as soon as he returned from Germany.
A case against him and his father was filed at Holenarasipura police station in Karnataka.
HD Revanna, also accused in a kidnapping case, is out on bail.
Revanna’s elder son and Prajwal’s brother Suraj Revanna has also been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a party worker at their farmhouse.
