Rare Celestial Sight Of Jupiter, Venus Coming Closer Seen In Bhubaneswar Sky

Bhubaneswar: The people of Bhubaneswar witnessed the rare celestial sight of bright planets of the solar system – Jupiter and Venus – coming close to each other on Tuesday night.

As per the Jupiter-Venus conjunction, the two planets could be seen close to each other in the evening from 6.15 pm to 7 pm in naked eyes in the city. Venus was spotted above Jupiter. Both were seen just below the moon.

The Pathani Samant Planetarium in Bhubaneswar has informed that the two planets continuing their movement till March 1 when they will be seen closest to each other. The people can see the celestial phenomenon with naked eye. However, Jupiter will move above Venus tomorrow.

The two planets, which were about 29 degrees apart at the beginning of February, are gradually moving closer. They were separated by 5 degrees on Monday and will come extremely close to each other with a distance of 0.52 degrees on Wednesday.

With a pair of binoculars, skygazers can see three or four larger Moons of Jupiter and with help of a telescope, they will be able to spot tops of Jupiter’s clouds.
