Bhubaneswar: While all eyes are on Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, where a final decision on Rath Yatra in Puri is likely to be taken, the administrations in six districts of Odisha have decided again pulling the chariot on June 23 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The second-largest Rath Yatra in the state at Baldevjew Temple in Kendrapada will not be held at Tulasikshetra this year. Besides Baladevjew temple, the administration has cancelled chariot pulling in other parts of the district to contain the spread of the virus.
Similar restrictions have been imposed at 12 places in Balasore, two places each in Balangir, Kandhamal and Gajapati, five each place of Sambalpur and Mayurbhanj and temple committees advised against organising the festival outside the temple premises.
