Rath Yatra: Sudarsan Pattnaik Carves Miniature Sand Chariot, ‘Biggest’ 3D Nandighosa On Puri Beach

Puri: Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has sculpted a miniature chariot of Lord Jagannath on Puri sea beach on the occasion of Rath Yatra.

The 6.2-inch chariot of Lord Jagannath is a tribute to the greatest poet, Bhakta Balaram Dash, who had created the first sand chariot in the 14th century AD, he tweeted on Monday.

He has also made three chariots on the sand at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.

On Sunday, he had created a 3D sand art chariot (Nandighosa) of Lord Jagannath – 43.2 ft long and 35 ft wide on Puri beach. “We hope, it will be a new record,” he added.

Amid the COVID pandemic, Rath Yatra would be a muted affair in Puri for the second consecutive year. The annual sojourn of the Lords is being held without the participation of devotees in strict adherence to the COVID guidelines.
