RDC Starts 24×7 Operation At MKCG Hospital In Odisha’s Berhampur

Berhampur: The Regional Diagnostic Centre (RDC) at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Berhampur city started 24×7 operation from Monday.

Dean of MKCG Medical College Prof Abanikant Mishra and superintendent Prof Santosh Kumar Mishra inaugurated the new laboratory in the two-storey building in the campus on Monday.

With the opening of the centre, patients taking admission at night do not have to wait till morning for pathological tests. Till now, the RDC, which was established in 1980, was conducting the tests from 9 am to 5 pm. Around 30 different types of tests were conducted in Serology, Pathology and Biochemistry departments of the centre.

Since more than 3,000 patients visit the outdoor of the hospital and around 2,000 indoor patients undergo treatment everyday, the RDC witnesses heavy rush during the working hours. Besides, many of them cannot get the tests done in day time and have to wait till next morning.

Considering the problems faced by the patients, the MKCG Hospital authorities had decided to make the centre operational round-the-clock. The authorities have appointed 23 new employees to conduct the tests at the RDC.
