Readying For Hockey World Cup: Chief Secy Reviews Bus Terminus, Multi-Level Parking In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup in January next year, Chief Secretary Suresh Mahapatra reviewed the ongoing work at Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Baramunda, BMC ICOMC Building and the functioning of the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) building at Saheed Nagar in Odisha capital, recently.

The ISBT Baramunda project, being implemented by Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) over 15.5 acre, will have facilities for the convenience of the passengers, office spaces, parking, a food court, restaurant and commercial spaces. The chief secretary directed officials to complete the work of creating a world-class transit infrastructure by March 2023.

At Saheed Nagar, he advised the officials of BMC and Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) to enforce no parking zones and make safe passage for commuters from the parking building to the nearby market areas. The Multi-Level Car Parking will accommodate minimum of 250 equivalent car spaces.

The chief secretary visited the  12-storeyed BMC ICOMC building at Janpath, Bhubaneswar, and also took stock of the capital city’s ongoing landscaping works and street art for the quadrennial event.

He visited the south lake zone where various citizen amenities activities, a park for children, a cycling track, and a walking track catering to localities of Satya Nagar, Saheed Nagar, Kharavel Nagar, are being planned. He directed officials to develop a proper parking place at the front side.

He visited the National-level Painting Camp and State-level Sculptures Camp at Kalabhumi, which is part of the STAMP 3.0 initiative and undertaken by Odisha Lalit Kala Academy and BMC. It is a platform where Odisha’s art and culture will be showcased before the people visiting Bhubaneswar from across the country as well as from different countries during the world cup.

Mahapatra was accompanied by BDA Vice-Chairman Balwant Singh and BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.
