Mumbai: While people speculated that an extra-marital affair could have been the reason behind Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal’s divorce, a recent report has claimed that disagreement over their residence led to the split.
Senior entertainment journalist Vickey Lalwani reported that while Dhanashree wanted to settle down in Mumbai, Chahal wanted to stay with his parents in Haryana. The difference in opinion on their residence was the main cause of their split.
After tying the knot in December 2020, the couple moved to Haryana to reside with Chahal’s parents.
However, when Dhanashree expressed her desire to move back to Mumbai some time later, Chahal disapproved of the idea.
“After tying the knot, Yuzi and Dhanashree had shifted to stay with Yuzi’s parents in Haryana and came to Mumbai only when they needed to. Yes, this Mumbai-Haryana jhagda was one of the main reasons why this much-in-the-paparazzi-world marriage ended. Yuzi was clear that he wouldn’t uproot himself from his parents’ home and surroundings,” Lalwani claimed.
According to the official statement released by the couple, they got separated amicably and by mutual consent.
The couple was granted divorce by the Bandra family court on March 20.
As per Bar and Bench, Chahal will be paying Rs 4.75 crore as alimony to Dhanashree.
