Bhubaneswar: A record number of 3,377 buyer-seller meetings were held during Odisha Travel Bazar 2022 that concluded at Odisha capital on Sunday.
Several popular tour operators of India and abroad keen to forge alliance with local players in tourism, travel and hospitality sector. They discussed different aspects of the possible alliance. Many were excited about the opportunities in Odisha.
During the 3-day Odisha Travel Bazar, organised by Tourism Department and FICCI, the tour operators visited Bhubaneswar, Konark, Puri, Chilika, Dhauli, Bhitarkanika and Lalitgiri as part of FAM trips. B2G meeting with investors and airlines were also organised. The sellers also participated and exhibited their products in the exhibition.
AS many as 22 foreign tour operators from countries like Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Tanzania, Thailand, Vietnam and 83 buyers from cities like Aurangabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chandrapur, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mangalgiri, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik, New Delhi and NCR, Panjim, Pune, Raipur, Rohtak, Siliguri, Surendra Nagar, Trivendrum, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam participated in the event.
The state’s flagship tourism event, organised after 2-year gap, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The state government has identified 17 places including beaches, biodiversity zones, heritage monuments and areas of religious and cultural importance for integrated master-planning-based development, he had said.
On second day of the Bazar, principal secretary, Tourism said the government planned to add 24 cottages in Tampara lake to make it more attractive for tourists. The investors from leading national and international hospitality and wellness groups held a meeting with Surendra Kumar, principal secretary, Tourism.
Sachin Ramchandra Yadav, Director, Tourism, JK Mohanty, co-chair, FICCI Tourism, Travel and Hospitality committee, Ansuman Rath, OSD, Tourism Department and others attended the event.
