Deep Depression To Trigger Heavy Rain, Red Warning Issued For 7 Odisha Districts
Apart from this, IMD has also issued orange warning for 14 districts and yellow warning for the remaining nine districts of the state till next 48 hours.
It also said that the depression is most likely turn into a deep depression in the next 12 hours and cross over coast between Kalingpatnam of North Andhra Pradesh and Paradip by Thursday midnight.
In a morning release, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said that the red warning has been issued for the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Koraput as extremely heavy rainfall will lash these districts for 48 hours till Friday.
Besides, heavy rainfall will also occur in Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Bhadrak during the period.
Due to inclement weather, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea on Thursday and Friday as the conditions would be very rough due to strong wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph, gusting of 70 kmph.
In an afternoon release on Thursday, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has warned heavy rainfall in the 14 districts of Kendrapara, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri and advised the collectors of these districts to stay on high alert till 5 pm on Thursday.
