Relief For Jacqueline As Court Extends Interim Bail; Final Order On Nov 15

New Delhi: In a relief to Jacqueline Fernandez, the Patiala House Court here extended her interim bail in the Rs 200-crore money-laundering and extortion case involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar.

Special Judge Shailendra Malik heard arguments from the lawyers appearing for the Bollywood actress and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is opposing the bail plea.

The Special judge, who had granted Jacqueline interim bail in September, reserved his order on the regular bail plea on Friday. The court will issue an order on November 15.

A day earlier, the court – responding to ED’s submission that Jacqueline could leave the country as she is not short of money — questioned the agency why it has not arrested the actress so far.

Jacqueline, named as an accused in the supplementary chargesheet, has been questioned several times by the probe agency.

The Sri Lanka-born actress is seeking bail on the premise that there was no need for her custody since the investigation has been completed and chargesheet filed.

Jacqueline received gifts worth crores from Sukesh while he was in Tihar Jail.

ED has mentioned in its chargesheet that the actress is “directly or indirectly involved in the proceeds of crime.”
