Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said that a cyclonic circulation (remnants of Tropical Cyclone Wipha) is likely to emerge over north Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region in the subsequent 48 hours, it added.

The weather agency has warned of isolated heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from July 22-28. Isolated very heavy rainfall may also occur in West Madhya Pradesh from July 26-28; East Madhya Pradesh from July 25-28; Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh from July 22-26; Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha on July 24-25.

The IMD has issued an orange of heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph for one or two places in Mayurbhanj and Balasore on July 24.

Heavy rain along with thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Angul. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.

On July 25, heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may continue at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts.

Heavy rain along with thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, and Boudh. Thunderstorms/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Kandhamal, and Rayagada.

Squally weather with wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph may also prevail along & off Odisha coasts, West Bengal & Bangladesh coasts from July 24-28, when the sea conditions is likely to be rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised against venturing into the sea in these regions during this period.
