Restrictions Clamped For Chhatar Yatra In Odisha’s Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: The Kalahandi district administration on Thursday issued guidelines for the Chhatar Yatra scheduled on October 24.

Talking to the media, district collector Gavali Parag Harshad said that to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus during the upcoming festive season of Durga Puja and Chhatar Yatra and to ensure the safety of life of general public of Kalahandi district, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC will be enforced in Bhawanipatna Municipality area which will remain in force from 12 am of October 22 to 12 am of October 25.

He said entry to Bhawanipatna Municipality area will be allowed only for medical/emergency purpose and any other purpose specifically allowed during the period while the movement and gathering of people are restricted to four persons at any point of time in the township.

“All the executive magistrates, officers, officials of essential service departments carrying valid ID proofs/movement pass shall be exempted from the purview of this order. Any person contravening this order will be prosecuted under the Section of 188 of IPC,” the collector pointed out.

Stating that the Chhatar Yatra will be telecast live on social media and news channels, he requested the people to watch the festival on TV in their homes.
