Reveal Names Of Architect, Structural Engineer For Puri Parikrama Project: Aparajita Sarangi

Bhubaneswar: Continuing her scathing attack on the Odisha government over illegalities in the implementation of Puri Heritage Corridor project, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Friday asked it to reveal the names of heritage conservation architect and structural engineer.

“The work was executed in violations of AMASR Act, 1958, and without conducting Ground Penetrating Radar Survey (GPRS) and heritage impact assessment studies. The government should tell the people of Odisha on whose suggestions the project was executed. It has already admitted its mistake by shifting the proposed reception centre from the temple’s prohibited area. The National Monuments Authority (NMA) had also written to Shree Jagannath Temple Administration asking it to reduce the height of the building,” she told the media.

Aparajita said that the government is aware of these violations and it is now left with no option but to cover up its mistakes. “It is also surprising how Puri MP Pinaki Mishra is not aware of what is going on under the project. If the local MP is in dark, let alone the 4.5 crore of the Odisha people,” she said.

The parliamentarian also express concern over the work being carried out in a clandestine manner. “The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has done their part of the job. It has submitted the factual report to the Orissa High Court. I have faith in the Chief Justice and judges that they would take a proper decision after going through it,” she added.
