Mumbai: Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu has been defending Rhea Chakraborty, the prime accused in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, ever since the probe started.
After slamming the media trial of Rhea, Taapsee took to her Twitter handle on Saturday to state that the ‘Jalebi’ actress is not a ‘gold digger’. Although Sushant was more successful than Rhea, that doesn’t mean the latter was behind his money, remarked Taapsee.
She urged people not to blame Rhea without any evidence and let the investigating agencies unearth the truth in the case.
“Every woman who is with a relatively more successful man is NOT a ‘gold digger’ and for the rest, truth and investigating agencies will do their job. One step at a time,” she tweeted.
Taapsee also shared some clippings from newspapers, which stated that no drugs were found at Rhea and Showik’s house.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s staff Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant in connection with the drug cartel case.
According to reports, Rhea has been summoned by the NCB on Sunday, when Rhea and Showik will be jointly interrogated.
The NCB team swung into action after the ED officials recovered deleted WhatsApp chats from Rhea’s phone, which hinted at the substance abuse angle.
Seven drug peddlers have so far been arrested in connection with the case.
