Mumbai: Actor and entrepreneur Rhea Chakraborty recently spoke about the difficult period she faced following the controversy surrounding Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and how it motivated her to start over again.
On the latest episode of Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s Double Date, Rhea recalled launching her clothing brand, Chapter 2, revealing that she had initially considered naming it ‘Chudail Ka Badla’ (The Witch’s Revenge) and had even imagined an entire merchandise line around the idea.
Rhea and her brother, Showik Chakraborty, also reflected on life after being released from jail in connection with the investigation into Sushant’s death.
Rhea said she had stopped receiving acting offers, while Showik was also unemployed. Wanting to rebuild their lives, the siblings decided to create a brand that would inspire and empower others, eventually giving birth to ‘Chapter 2’.
“I was very keen on naming the brand Chudail Ka Badla (The Witch’s Revenge). I was completely sure about it and even imagined creating cool T-shirts and merchandise. Everyone told me not to be so negative, but I kept saying, ‘It’s not negative, it’s funny’. Then I wanted to call the brand Black Sheep, and I even got bracelets made with Black Sheep written on them because that’s how we felt at the time. We felt like the black sheep of society,” Rhea shared.
Following the death of her boyfriend Sushant in June 2020, Rhea faced legal proceedings and widespread public scrutiny.
However, last year, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed its closure report in the case, clearing Rhea of the allegations against her.
On the work front, Rhea was last seen in the 2021 film ‘Chehre’, which turned out to be a dud at the box office.
She is now gearing up for her comeback with the Netflix series ‘Family Business’.
Produced by Vikram Malhotra and Hansal Mehta and created by Niren Bhatt and Hansal Mehta, the show also features Anil Kapoor, Vijay Varma, Dhruv Sehgal, Neha Dhupia, Raima Sen, Akash Khurana, Apara Mehta, Nandish Sandhu, Anant Nag, Rohan Vinod Mehra, Tina Desai, Kanwaljit Singh, Madhoo and Inayat Sood.
