New Delhi: Indian keeper-batter Rishabh Pant is steadily progressing toward a highly anticipated return to the IPL, having participated in a practice match arranged by his team, the Delhi Capitals, in Alur, Karnataka.
Following a severe car accident in December 2022, Pant has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, diligently striving to regain match fitness ahead of the IPL commencing in the latter part of March.
Recent reports indicated that the BCCI contemplated the England Test series as an opportunity for Pant’s return. However, this plan was dismissed as they preferred not to reintroduce him to cricket through the demanding longest format, which requires considerable effort from players.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is anticipated to commence either on March 22 or 23, with the final scheduled for May 26. While the league itself generates excitement, much anticipation surrounds Pant’s comeback.
It will be intriguing to observe how the 26-year-old performs in the tournament. Pant is set to captain the Delhi Capitals in the forthcoming IPL season, focusing primarily on his role as a batsman.
