Rishabh Pant Smashes Kapil Dev’s 40-Year-Old Record
Bengaluru: Team India’s explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant continues to break new ground.
On Sunday, the left-hander rewrote legendary allrounder Kapil Dev’s record of fastest half-century in Tests by an Indian. Pant raced to 50 off just 28 balls, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes, on Day 2 of the day/night Test against Sri Lanka at Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Sunday evening.
Kapil had held the record since 1982, when he scored 50 off 30 balls in the Karachi Test against Pakistan.
The world record is held by former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who took only 21 balls to reach 50 in the 2014 Abu Dhabi Test against Australia.
