Bhubaneswar: The broad gauge train line between Sonepur and Khambeswarpalli in Odisha has been commissioned after completion.
Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS) inspected the newly laid train tracks of 10.5 km on Friday and have his approval for commissioning. The CRS inspected the safety parameters of the track, signaling system, bridges.
This section is part of the on-going 301-km Khurda Road-Balangir rail line project. A team of senior officials of East Coast Railway (ECoR) were present.
Of the main project, 152.8-km rail line has already been commissioned. The Railways has been constructing the line from both the sides, i.e, from Khurda Road and Balangir for early completion of the project.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier dedicated two sections of the line from Balangir to Jhartarbha. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has been monitoring the progress of this project in Odisha and the ministry has given priority for early completion of Khurda Road Balangir Rail Line project.
General Manager of ECoR Manoj Sharma reviewed the status of the ongoing works and instructed the officials to speed up the work and complete the remaining portion within the time line set by the Railway Board.
