Robbers Caught By Villagers While Fleeing In Auto-Rickshaw After Loot In Odisha’s Kendrapada
Kendrapada: Two robbers were caught by locals while fleeing in an auto-rickshaw after looting valuables from the house of a doctor at gunpoint at a village in Odisha’s Kendrapada district.
The incident took place at Gobindpur village under the jurisdiction of Aul police station of the district. The robbers were hiding on the outskirts of the village after committing the crime late on Thursday night.
They were fleeing in an auto-rickshaw this morning when the villagers caught and thrashed the two before handing them over to the police, sources said.
The doctor, identified as Bansidhar Mohapatra, and his wife were having dinner when the gun-totting robbers barged into their house and threatened them. When the doctor offered resistane, they attacked him with a sharp weapon and left after taking away all gold ornaments, jewellery and cash from the house. They also damaged two mobile phones before leaving.
The robbers spent the night at a hideout near the village and called an auto-rickshaw in the morning. As they were fleeing, the villagers followed and caught them. The stolen valuables were also recovered from the two.
They were handed over to the police after the doctor identified them. The two are being interrogated by the police and investigation is underway.
