Balasore: A gang of armed robbers stormed into a house in Dayanidhipur village under Soro area of Odisha’s Balasore district and decamped with gold ornaments worth over Rs ten lakh and Rs 50,000 in cash after assaulting the family members.
As per sources, the group of seven masked robbers entered the house of Rabindra Nayak around Wednesday midnight. They broke open the door, stormed into the house, tied up five family members and assaulted them.
As some neighbours rushed to the site to help the terrorised family, the miscreants climbed onto the roof and opened fire to scare them off. One of the villagers reportedly sustained a bullet injury.
Locals said that the robbers fled the scene with gold and cash. The injured villager was rescued by locals and rushed to a hospital at Soro for treatment. His condition was stated to be critical. Two members of the victim family also sustained injuries after being assaulted by the robbers. All the injured were later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) at Balasore for treatment.
After receiving information about the robbery, Soro police have started an investigation and sent a team to the site.
