Ropeway To The Cave Where Jagannath’s Idol Was Hidden For 144 Years
Sambalpur: The Odisha Construction Corporation (OCC) will be floating a tender for a ropeway project at Patali Srikhetra, a popular tourist destination in Sonepur district.
The four-trolley ropeway project will come up at an estimated cost of Rs 10.27 crore.
Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) chairman Chairman Kishore Mohanty informed about the development at a press meet on Sunday.
“The ropeway will connect the base of Trikuta hills to the top of the shrine situated 500 metres above. This will help boost tourism in the area as the journey to the top through the hilly track is not very convenient,” he said.
The cave inside this hill was the place where the idols of Lord Jagannath and his siblings were kept hidden from Muslim invaders for 144 years.
