Bhubaneswar: The Special CBI Court on Friday sent Subhra Kundu, wife of Rose Valley Group chairman Gautam Kundu, to 14-day judicial custody. She will be housed in Jharpada jail here during the period.
After arresting Subhra from South Kolkata on January 16, the CBI had produced her in the Special Court seeking 7-day remand for interrogation in connection with her involvement in multi-crore chit fund scam by the Group. The court, which granted 5-day remand to CBI, sent her to judicial custody on completion of remand period on Friday.
According to sources, the investigating agency has obtained important information from Subhra regarding how the money from the scam was routed during the interrogation.
It may be noted that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) probing into the money laundering aspect of the scam had arrested Gautam in March 2015. It had issued a look-out notice against Subhra in November 2019.
The Rose Valley Group had allegedly collected more than Rs 1,000 crore from the depositors by promising a high rate of interest through its 27 branches in the state.
