New Delhi: Railways on Wednesday announced the extension of routes of 22 trains, four of which are from Odisha. According to a statement issues by the public transporter:
Rourkela Koraput Express has been extended up to Jagdalpur, with new stoppages at Jeypore and Kotapar Road enroute.
Puri-Barbil Express has been extended up to Rourkela with stoppages at Kendposi, Chaibasa, Chakradharpur, Manoharpur enroute.
Cuttack-Brahampur MEMU has been extended up to Ichchapuram stopping at all the stations en-route.
Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger has been extended up to Brahampur with all stoppages en-route.
Briefing the media, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said the extension of services has been carried out with an aim to reduce additional lie-over time of the trains and ensuring “sweating the assets”
He added that the first successful experiment of extension was carried out with Gatiman Express, which was extended from Agra to Gwalior and then up to Jhansi.
