Row Over BJD MLA’s Alleged Misbehaviour To Woman In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: A huge controversy has erupted over BJD MLA Pramod Kumar Mallick’s alleged misbehaviour towards a woman during a meeting in Niali area of Odisha’s Cuttack district. A video of the recent meeting and arguments between the two has gone viral on social media, evoking sharp reactions from different quarters.

In the video, the woman identified as Swarnalata Mallick of Niali area raised a number of questions about development of her area while the legislator was addressing the meeting.

The woman asked the MLA to list out the development works done by him. “A river embankment road has been in bad shape. It has not been repaired as yet. There are no mandis in our area and farmers have to suffer a lot failing to sell their produce,” she was seen asking the MLA.

Visibly annoyed over the barrage of question, the MLA asked the woman if she was trained to raise question before him in such manner.

Talking to media persons, Swarnalata accused the legislator of affronting her at a public meeting. She said, ”As a citizen of the country, Constitution has guaranteed her every right to raise questions about development of my area before people’s representatives, but the legislator got infuriated over my questioning and affronted me.”

She demanded an apology from the legislator for his misbehaviour.
