Bhubaneswar: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Railway Protection Force (RPF) was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly misbehaving with a girl on the pretext of helping her in Bhubaneswar.
Sources said that the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested the RPF ASI after the girl lodged a complaint with them in Bhubaneswar.
The accused ASI has been identified as Niranjan Jena.
The girl, who hails from Jagatsinghpur district, had alighted on the platform on Monday. When the girl found that her hostel was closed, she approached the RPF at the railway station for help.
When Jena found that she was alone, tried to take advantage of the situation and reportedly offered to arrange a room for her at the station. However, when the girl entered the room, the accused allegedly locked the door from inside and tried to misbehave with her.
The girl got scared and called the police control room following which she was rescued. She later lodged a complaint and the accused was arrested.
Further investigation is in progress, the sources added.
