Rourkela: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a ragpicker on Friday morning
The accused, identified as Mohammad Israr, is posted at Bondamunda RPF station.
According to sources, Israr demanded the bribe from a woman, who collected and sold scrap materials for a living, threatening to implicate her in a false case. She agreed to pay the bribe but simultaneously lodged a formal complaint with the CBI’s Bhubaneswar office.
Acting on the complaint, a CBI team laid a trap and apprehended him at Birsa Munda Chhak. The Bondamunda RPF station was also searched as part of the investigation.
The central agency is yet to issue any official statement on the matter.
