Manesar: India got a special counter-terrorism training centre at the National Security Guard (NSG) headquarters in Manesar in Haryana on Tuesday. This training centre can be used by state police forces as well to train personnel, Union home minister Amit Shah said after inaugurating the Special Operations Training Centre (SOTC), built at a cost of Rs 141 crore.

Spread across eight acres, the centre will offer advanced training facilities for NSG commandos and state police forces to enhance coordination and operational preparedness.

“This training centre is not only for the NSG but also for all state police forces. It will help strengthen their capabilities to combat terrorism,” Shah said in his address while noting that the Centre alone can’t fight terrorism in the country. State police forces are always the first responders during any terror strike while special units like the NSG come in later.

Shah was in Manesar for the 41st Raising Day ceremony of the NSG. He lauded the force for its unwavering contribution to India’s internal security over the past forty years and described it as the country’s strongest shield against terrorism and organised crime.

He commended the NSG’s dedication and professionalism and stated that its exemplary service had instilled confidence among citizens.

“With the principles of Sarvatra, Sarvottam, Suraksha and the spirit of Samarpan, Saahas, and Rashtrabhakti, the NSG has fought a formidable battle against organised crime and terrorism for four decades,” the home minister said.

India’s security is in “very safe hands”, Shah said after watching a display by the Black Cat commandos. He also announced that a new NSG hub would be set up in Ayodhya, expanding the elite force’s reach beyond the six major hubs across the country – Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Jammu.

The home minister said that NSG commandos would remain deployed round the clock, ensuring rapid response to any terror threat.

Shah claimed that the abrogation of Article 370 was a key step in dismantling terrorist networks. He reaffirmed that India’s security agencies were fully committed to eradicating terrorism and protecting national integrity.

Since its formation in 1984, the NSG has played a decisive role in critical operations such as the Akshardham temple attack, the Mumbai 26/11 attack, and several hostage-rescue missions, reinforcing its status as India’s premier counter-terror force.
