Faridabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the Delhi car blast of November 10 that killed 15 people and injured several others, has recovered Rs 18 lakh in cash from Shaheen Saeed’s room at the Al-Falah University in Faridabad.
Shaheen is one of the doctors arrested in the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)-linked Faridabad “white-collar” terror module and an accused in the car blast case. She worked at the Al-Falah University and was allotted room 22.
This room is now a part of the investigation into the module from which over 2,500 kg of explosives were seized along with weapons and ammunition.
According to an official, the cash was found wrapped in a plastic bag and kept inside a closet in the room. The investigators are now trying to determine from where Shaheen obtained such a large amount of cash.
She has been accused of being indoctrinated by the proscribed JeM to set up a unit of the terror outfit in India.
Shaheen and co-accused Muzammil Shakeel, bought a new Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which was among the thirty-two cars that were being prepped to carry explosive materials and/or deliver bombs, NDTV has quoted sources as saying.
The Brezza was found parked on the campus of the Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. Investigators discovered explosives and an assault rifle inside.
After two failed marriages, Shaheen is said to have met Muzammil, a Kashmiri doctor, at the varsity. Daily meetings, working together at the college, and having similar professions strengthened their bond.
During interrogation, Muzammil revealed that the two got married in September 2023 at a mosque near the university. The two started living as a couple and it is during this time, Shaheen was introduced to student groups and began participating in religious activities.
During these meetings, she was approached by members of Jamaat ul-Mominaat, the women’s wing of the JeM, who, according to the investigative agencies began training her in radicalism and terrorist ideology.
