Bhubaneswar: Odisha Finance Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha presented a supplementary budget of Rs 28,200 crore for the 2023-24 financial year in the state Assembly on Friday.

The Supplementary Statement of Expenditures reveals that the government allocated Rs 210 crore for the proposed Odisha Metro Project.

It proposed the highest allocation of Rs 4,698 crore for the Revenue & Disaster Management Department, while Rs 4,083 crore has been sought for the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Department.

Expenditures allocated for other government schemes include Rs 2,882 crore for the School and Mass Education, Rs 1355 crore for SC and ST Development, Rs 897 crore for Rural Development and Rs 783 crore for Mission Shakti.

Similarly, Rs 1302 crore was provided for ‘Ama Odisha, Naveen Odisha’, Rs 556 crore for the newly announced LAccMI programme, Rs 500 crore for Madhu Babu Pension, and Rs 106 crore for Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya and Rs 100 crore for Smart City.

As per the schedule, discussion of expenditure grants will be held on September 28 and 30, and the Appropriation Bill will be presented and passed on October 3.

The Monsoon Session of the state Assembly which began today will run till October 4 with eight working days in-between.
