New Delhi: Lok Sabha has passed the Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021, amid ruckus by Opposition MPs, who demanded a discussion on the issue. The bill was passed through a voice vote.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar tabled the Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021 in the Lok Sabha amid protests by the Opposition. Opposition MPs stormed to the well of the house, demanding a debate. Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla said the debate could be allowed if the Opposition maintain peace.
Thousands of farmers have been protesting for the past one year against the three legislations and demanding they be repealed. Several farmer unions have pressed for a law on minimum support price (MSP).
