The embassy was shifted to Warsaw, capital city of Poland, on a temporary basis on March 13 because of rapidly deteriorating security situation in Ukraine. Before that, the Indian embassy had been moved from Kyiv to Lviv due to heavy shelling in the Ukrainian capital.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday that about 50 Indians are still believed to be stranded in war-hit Ukraine. Of them, 15-20 people want to leave Ukraine, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.
Around 22,500 Indians have so far been evacuated from Ukraine, most of them after Operation Ganga was launched and special flights arranged with help from countries like Poland and Romania.
