Mumbai: The attack on Saif Ali Khan during a burglary attempt at his Bandra residence last week had sent shock waves across the country.
The actor, who had sustained multiple injuries, was rushed to Lilavati hospital in an auto at around 3 am on January 16 and emergency surgeries were carried out.
Before getting discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, Saif met the auto driver Bhajan Singh Rana who had ferried him to the hospital in the early hours of January 16.
The actor thanked Bhajan Singh and posed with him for pictures.
Saif’s family members, including his mother Sharmila Tagore, thanked the auto driver for saving his son’s life.
One of the pictures doing the rounds on social media platforms shows Saif posing with the auto driver with his arm around him.

The auto driver told ANI, “I drive my vehicle at night. It was around 2-3 a.m. when I saw a woman trying to hire an auto, but nobody stopped. I also heard calls for a rickshaw from inside the gate. I took a U-turn and stopped my vehicle near the gate. A man covered in blood came out, along with 2-4 others. They put him in the auto and decided to go to Lilavati Hospital. I dropped them there, and later I came to know that he was Saif Ali Khan. I saw him bleeding from his neck and back.”
The intruder who attacked Saif with a sharp object has been arrested and identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad.
The attacker, who is an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh, told Mumbai police that he stabbed Saif in his back to free himself from his grip, reported PTI.
