Mumbai: Filmmaker Sajid Khan, who got embroiled in the #MeToo allegations controversy, is set to make his directorial comeback with Govinda’s son Yashvardhan.
Sajid will be donning the director’s hat after seven years and will launch Yashvardhan in his upcoming project, Mid-Day reported citing an insider.
The untitled film, planned as a ‘launchpad’ for Yashvardhan Ahuja, may feature Nitanshi Goel of ‘Laapataa Ladies’ fame and Krithi Shetty as female leads.
The project, which will be a romantic comedy, is currently in discussions with Zee Studios.
“Sajid has been approached by the studio, but he hasn’t said yes yet. The studio heads are keen to have him helm the film as the comedy elements are right up his alley. Yashvardhan has another project with Phantom Studios, but he is likely to start shooting for this first. Sajid was earlier to direct a film with John Abraham, but that didn’t work out,” the insider said.
For the unversed, Sajid was targeted in the #MeToo allegations in 2018 and faced a one-year ban, imposed by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees.
Despite the controversy and allegations, trade insiders revealed that Sajid has got strong backing from segments of the industry.
Neither Sajid nor Zee Studios has spoken on the proposed project.
