Mumbai: As devastating floods continue to wreak havoc across Assam, reportedly affecting lakhs of people and leaving thousands displaced, actor Salman Khan has stepped forward to support relief efforts.
According to an India Today report, the superstar has reportedly launched a phased relief campaign through his Being Human Foundation to provide food, essential supplies and long-term rehabilitation support to families affected by the disaster.
A source close to the actor said the initiative has been carefully planned in multiple phases to ensure sustained assistance for flood-hit communities.
The first phase is already underway, with the distribution of ready-to-eat meals and other essential supplies in the worst-affected areas.
In the coming weeks, the campaign is expected to expand to include ration kits and rebuilding efforts, particularly for schools and hospitals damaged by the floods.
Besides food, the initiative also plans to distribute medicines, drinking water, sanitary napkins, mosquito repellents and other daily essentials to flood-affected families.
While several celebrities, including Bhumi Pednekar and Adil Hussain, have taken to social media to raise awareness about the crisis in Assam, Salman is reportedly among the few Bollywood stars to back the relief efforts through an on-ground humanitarian initiative.
Assam has witnessed widespread devastation due to the floods, with lakhs of people affected across multiple districts. More than 600 villages have been submerged, causing extensive damage to homes, infrastructure and livelihoods.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the death toll has risen to 68 as rescue and relief operations continue across the state.
