Mumbai: Salman Khan is set to impress fans with a striking new look and a complete physical transformation in his upcoming film ‘Maatrubhumi’.
According to a source close to the project, the superstar has undergone one of his most demanding fitness routines for the role.
Reports suggest that he pushed his limits while training in the harsh, high-altitude conditions of Ladakh and is said to have combined intense endurance exercises with heavy weight training to meet the physical demands of his character.
During his time in Ladakh, he also followed a rigorous calisthenics-based routine to maintain peak fitness levels.
“Salman Khan has undergone a remarkable physical transformation for the film. He has been training at extreme high altitudes in Ladakh, combining intense endurance drills with heavy weight sessions. It is easily one of the most grueling fitness regimens he has taken on in recent years, reflecting a completely new level of commitment to the role. During a 45-day schedule in Ladakh, the superstar adopted a calisthenics-based fitness routine to maintain his physique, as it was difficult to carry a full gym setup at such high-altitude shooting locations,” the source was quoted as saying by HT.
Despite dealing with multiple injuries, he reportedly stayed committed to his training regimen.
“What makes this even more incredible is that Salman is pushing through all of this despite dealing with multiple injuries. To train with such intensity, discipline, and passion under those conditions… honestly, it’s something only Salman Khan can pull off,” the source added.
The upcoming war drama ‘Maatrubhumi’ is going through major changes.
Earlier titled ‘Battle of Galwan’, the film was reportedly inspired by the clash between Indian and Chinese forces in the Galwan Valley in the summer of 2020.
The title was subsequently changed, references to the conflict removed, and the team is reportedly reshooting several scenes.
The teaser, released in December, showed Salman leading troops in a close combat battle against Chinese forces in Eastern Ladakh.
The film sparked controversy as the Chinese state media, including the Global Times, criticised it, saying it “distorts facts” and promotes anti-China sentiment.
Produced by Salman Khan under Salman Khan Films and directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the release date of the film has not yet been announced.
