Sambalpur: Odisha Police carried out a thorough search and stepped up security at the Sambalpur District Court on Thursday after an anonymous bomb threat was received via email.
According to sources, this email was received in the official inbox of the court registry. Besides vacating the court premises, a bomb detection and disposal unit was pressed into service and it conducted an extensive anti-sabotage check with metal detectors and sniffer dogs.
This marks the second such threat to the Sambalpur court in just two months. A similar email was received on March 2, prompting a major search that ultimately turned out to be a hoax.On February 6, the courts in Cuttack, Puri, and Phulbani (Kandhamal district) had also received warning messages about impending explosions, all of which were later confirmed to be false alarms.
