Sambalpur: Stepping up investigation into the armed robbery in the office of Manappuram Gold Loan at Budharaja Main Road in Odisha’s Sambalpur, police have formed four special teams and conducted search operations at different places.
Notably, a gang of armed robbers allegedly executed a daring daylight heist at an office of Manappuram Gold Loan at Mudharaja Main road and decamped with around 30 kg gold worth over Rs 20 crore on Friday.
While 10 robbers with firearms and sharp-edged weapons looted the office, some of them reportedly stood guard outside the building.
Meanwhile, police are conducting raids at various locations to apprehend the culprits apart from forming special teams for the same reason. However, no arrest has been made so far.
The investigation is also being extended to neighbouring districts. The police are on high alert and are urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward.
The exit and entry points to the town have also been sealed and nearby police outposts alerted about the robbery, sources added.
The robbers, who spoke in Hindi, were suspected to have moved on Ainthapali road and proceeded towards Bargarh.
