Samir Mohanty To Continue As BJP’s Odisha President, Says Prithviraj Harichandan
Bhubaneswar: Odisha president of BJP will continue to remain in the post till Assembly elections in the state in 2024, said state general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan on Tuesday.
Speaking to media persons, Harichandan said there was no move by the Central leadership of the party to change state president. “The BJP has been performing well in the state under the leadership of Mohanty and there would be no change,” he said.
With the BJP’s performance in panchayat and urban elections recently not being so impressive, there were speculations in political circles about change in leadership of the party in the state. Mohanty’s three-year term was about to end soon.
Earlier in the day, the BJP extended the tenure of its national president JP Nadda till June 2024. Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed about the decision taken in the BJP national executive meeting. Nadda’s term was set to end this month.
Shah said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh proposed to extend the presidential term of Nadda till June 2024 and it was approved at the executive meeting.
