Bhubaneswar: In a rare example of honesty, a sanitation worker of BMC returned a costly gold bracelet found by her from a garbage box to its rightful owner in Bhubaneswar.
Dipika Mohanty, a resident of Lane 5 in New Forest Park area had thrown her 18-gram gold bracelet in an absent mind into the dustbin in her house. When the sanitation workers of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) came to collect the household waste, she gave away the bracelet along with other garbage in the dustbin.
Later, another sanitary worker, Saraswati Nayak, found the bracelet while sorting the garbage at the material recovery facility (MRF) in Unit I of the city. Without showing any greed for the gold ornament, which cost more than Rs 1 lakh, she informed her higher authorities.
After an investigation and confirming that Dipika was the rightful owner of the bracelet, the officials of BMC returned the ornament to her.
Dipika expressed her gratitude to the entire MRF team of BMC, particularly Saraswati, for getting back her costly bracelet.
