New Delhi: In a big set back for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to appear before the CBI in connection with the Ponzi scam probe.
The top court, however, said Kumar cannot be arrested.
Mamata claimed it was a “moral victory” for her party and for the people of the country.
Speaking to mediapersons at the dharna site, she maintained that the commissioner never said that he will not appear before the CBI but only at a mutually agreed place.
Launching a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP, she said he will not come back to power in the coming elections.
She further claimed support of several opposition party leaders to her agitation.
