SC To Hear Manish Sisodia’s Plea Against His Arrest In Liquor Policy Scam Today
New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia plea, challenging his arrest and the manner of CBI investigation into the alleged liquor policy case, at 3.50 pm on Tuesday.
The matter was mentioned before Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud for urgent listing.
Sisodia was arrested on Sunday evening for alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22 and a Delhi court sent him to five-day CBI custody on Monday while directing that he be grilled Under CCTV surveillance to avoid chances of 3rd degree.
The CBI had sough his remand, claiming that he was giving evasive replies and not cooperating in the ongoing investigation. It has been alleged that Sisodia and other members of AAP granted liquor licences to certain traders in exchange for bribes.
Sisodia is second minister of the Delhi government to have been arrested by a federal agency. He holds 18 portfolios.
