SCB Expansion: 2nd Phase Eviction Launched Amid Protests In Cuttack City

Cuttack: The district administration and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Friday jointly launched the second phase of eviction drive for the beautification and expansion of the SCB Medical College and Hospital in the city.

The encroachments and illegal structures along the Taladanda Canal road from Ranihat to Matru Bhawan Chhak will be evicted during the drive. On the first day,  roadside shops along the Pilgrim Road and slums and temples between Ravenshaw University and Taladanda Canal are being demolished.

According to sources, three temples constructed on government plots were demolished amid protest from the local people. Some shop-keepers also demanded that they must be relocated before demolition of their shops.

However, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Cuttack said the affected people will be provided remuneration and relocated as per the state government rules.
